Who calls in Kannada
Kannada is the language of Karnataka. Your callers are in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Hubballi-Dharwad, Mangaluru, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Davanagere, Ballari, Shivamogga and Tumakuru.
Karnataka is one of the most multilingual states in India. A Bengaluru hospital may hear Kannada, English, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Urdu on the same morning. In North Karnataka, Marathi is common near Belagavi, and Urdu and Hindi around Kalaburagi.
One phone line, many languages
This makes the front desk hard to staff. Few receptionists speak all of these. Typical calls:
- "Naale makkala doctor iddara?" (Is the children's doctor in tomorrow?)
- A software engineer calling in English at 10 PM to book a weekend slot.
- A Tamil-speaking grandmother asking about the eye department.
- A family from Hubballi checking a Bengaluru specialist's timings before travelling.
How Zarur handles Kannada
Zarur speaks natural Kannada, with no menus and no "press 1". It understands Kanglish, which mixes Kannada and English.
It detects the caller's language automatically and switches mid-call. Your hospital sets the default call language, for example Kannada, and Zarur follows the caller from there. Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Urdu, Marathi and English are all in its language list.
Zarur answers more than one call at a time, day and night. It books from your live doctor schedules with leave and breaks applied, and never books the same slot twice. You can save doctor names in Kannada in the portal, so Zarur says them correctly.
Patients get a WhatsApp confirmation and a reminder before the visit. If a caller describes an emergency, Zarur transfers the call live to your desk. It never gives medical advice.
What your front desk gets
Zarur does not replace your reception team. It takes the calls they can't. Every AI booking shows up in the portal next to the ones your staff took. Receptionists create, reschedule and cancel bookings and get booking notifications. Nurses see the doctor's queue and can raise an emergency flag. Doctors see their own queue, notes, prescriptions and tests. An auditor login has read-only access to the activity log. Each login sees only its own pages. Calls are recorded and transcribed, so you can check any call later. Every call starts with a short announcement that it is recorded.

Kannada FAQs
Can we set Kannada as the default language?
Yes. Your hospital sets the default call language. Zarur still switches if the caller speaks another language.
A caller starts in Kannada and switches to Tamil. What happens?
Zarur detects the switch and continues in Tamil. Mid-call switching is built in.
Does it support Tulu or Konkani for Mangaluru callers?
Tulu and Konkani are not in Zarur's published language list. Callers who speak Kannada, English or Hindi are supported.
What does a large Bengaluru hospital pay?
Billing is per minute of call time, plus GST. Basic covers up to 10 doctors. Pro (up to 35 doctors) and Enterprise (custom) have lower per-minute rates. See the current rates under Pricing.
